The aim of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) is to promote a unified Europe on the world stage, one that uses the combined clout of its member states to influence positive change with its neighbours and other countries around the globe.
Funded, amongst others, by George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, ECFR opened with seven offices in London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Rome, Warsaw and Sofia. The new organisation is calling on the governments of the European Union to develop a more coherent and vigorous foreign policy which is informed by our shared European values. It is also aiming to re-engage with the 450 million people who make up the twenty-seven member states, as well as the people that border the EU through campaigns and events.
Our work was based around creating a brand and identity that was relevant to ECFRs three main areas of activity: the council, the think-tank and the campaigns. We created a symbol that shows the relationship between Europe and the world. We used silver foil-blocking on their business cards to give gravitas at governmental level whilst using bright and engaging colours for campaigns.
With thousands of signatories already added to its statement of principles and launch coverage in over 27 countries, the ECFR is already causing a stir amongst the institutions and people of Europe.
